How can I improve the air quality in my home?

1. Regular Cleaning: Cleaning your home consistently will significantly improve the air quality. Vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces will get rid of dust, bacteria, and allergens.

2. Air Purifier: Investing in an air purifier can filter out mold spores, pet dander, and other air contaminants.

3. Ventilation: Proper ventilation will decrease the concentration of pollutants in your home. Opening windows and doors, and using fans can help circulate quality air.

4. Keep Humidity in Check: High humidity creates an environment for mold growth, and also makes it easier for airborne allergens to stick around. It is best to keep the humidity levels in your home between 30% and 60%.

5. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: As much as possible, use natural cleaning products to avoid chemical air pollution.

6. Bring in Plants: Some plants can improve air quality by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen. Snake plants, peace lilies, and spider plants are popular choices for indoor air purifying.

7. No Smoking: Avoid smoking tobacco or other substances indoors.

8. Regular Maintenance: Keep your furnaces, ducts, and vents clean and well-maintained to prevent build-up of dust and debris.

9. Keep Pesky Pests Outdoors: Store firewood away from the home, keep trash sealed and taken out frequently, and seal any cracks or openings to prevent pests from getting inside.

10. Test for Radon: Radon is a colorless and odorless gas produced by the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It can enter a home through cracks and openings. Testing for radon could help you take proper precautions to prevent accidents.
