1. Clogged gutters: regularly clearing out debris from gutters can help prevent clogs. Use a ladder and gloves to remove leaves, twigs, and other debris. A small plumbing snake can also be used to remove stubborn clogs.
2. Leaky faucets: replace the faucet washer if it’s worn out or damaged to stop the leak. Turn off the water supply, open the faucet to release pressure, and use a screwdriver to remove the handle. Replace the washer and reassemble.
3. Running toilets: a faulty flapper valve can prevent the toilet from filling properly, causing it to run continuously. Replace the flapper by turning off the water supply and flushing the toilet to empty the tank. Remove the old flapper and replace it with a new one.
4. Faulty electrical outlets: test the outlet using a voltage tester or a multimeter to ensure that it’s receiving power. If it’s not, check the electrical panel for any tripped breakers or blown fuses. If the outlet is still not working, it may need to be replaced.
5. Leaky pipes: turn off the water supply and drain the affected pipe. Use a pipe cutter to remove the damaged section of pipe, and replace it with a new one. Apply plumber’s tape to the joints and reconnect the water supply.
6. Peeling or cracked paint: scrape away loose paint and sand the surface smooth. Apply a coat of primer and let it dry. Then, apply two coats of paint, allowing sufficient drying time between each coat.
7. Broken tiles: remove the broken tile and clean the surface. Apply tile adhesive to the back of the replacement tile, press it firmly into place, and allow it to dry. Grout the area to finish.
